Lou Vogt
Co-Founder / Principal
Lou Vogt is co-founder and principal of AGPM, LLC. Lou graduated from the University of Illinois in 1971 with a BS in Finance and later continued his studies at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, earning his MBA in 1987. Mr. Vogt has been involved in all aspects of real estate including lending, investment, development, and management.
In 1972, Vogt began his real estate career when he joined Continental Mortgage Investors (Mortgage REIT) based in South Florida, where he was assigned to the REO division and continued his real estate career in South Florida in increasing roles of responsibility with Southeast Bank, Citicorp Real Estate, and Home Capital – a subsidiary of HomeFed Savings Bank as the bank’s Eastern Regional Director. In 1991, Vogt joined MIG Realty Advisors, Inc. (“MIG”), a real estate pension advisory firm as Vice President. During his tenure at MIG, Lou served in various leadership roles as Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and ultimately – Principal, responsible for assets totaling in excess of $2 Billion.
In 1998, MIG was acquired by Associated Estates Realty Corporation (NYSE: AEC) and Lou became Senior Vice President of AEC responsible for operations of over 30,000 multifamily units for both the public company, as well as all pension client assets formerly served by MIG. In 1999, Lou was elected to the Board and later named President and Chief Operating Officer of AEC in March 2000.
In January 2003, Vogt joined Professional Management, Inc. of Central Florida to expand the successful property management track record for private and non-profit owners, as well as institutional clients in conjunction with acquiring the controlling interest in multifamily affordable development across the Southeast USA. PMCFI, later known as Banyan Realty Management, grew to over 25,000 units under management and later merged with CAS-Riverstone, the largest private management company at that time.
In partnership with Scott Zimmerman, Lou launched an investment program into affordable housing, gaining control of approximately 13,000 multifamily units, which marked the start of AGPM, LLC as an owner/operator of premier multifamily assets throughout the country. Also in partnership with Scott Zimmerman, Lou formed Banyan Development Group, LLC (BDG) in 2016 and currently serves as Managing Member. BDG is an affiliate company focused on new construction development initiatives throughout the state of Florida. In 2023, in partnership with Scott Zimmerman, Lou formed Poplar Development Group, LLC (PDG) and also serves as Managing Member. PDG is another affiliate company focused on acquisition rehabilitations and affordable housing preservation initiatives throughout the country.
